Pasta! Nothing says comfort to me like a big, hearty bowl of pasta. The bigger the better. Pasta is probably one of my all time favorite dishes and it has been a dream of mine to start making pasta sauces from scratch. Mr. H is not a fan of pasta but he does prefer a meaty sauce when I make it. This Meat Lover’s Slow Cooker Pasta Sauce looked like the perfect thing to try for my little family.
Originally I had planned to make pasta from scratch. But on the day I did make this, I just didn’t have the time or energy to make it happen. So yes, this includes just boxed pasta. However, I think it worked very well. The pasta sauce made the house smell delicious all day long.
I wasn’t paying as much attention as I should have been when I started making this and used more of the sausage than is called for. I have to tell you, though. I really enjoyed the extra sausage in the dish. I think it added a little something extra flavor-wise. It wasn’t a bowl full of boring beef but had a little kick to excite the taste buds.
C-Man hasn’t been all that interested in pasta and pasta sauce, except macaroni and cheese (silly kid.) Mr. H ate it. I didn’t get any negative feedback from him so it couldn’t have been that bad. I enjoyed it. It gave me everything I wanted out of making my own meat pasta sauce for the first time.
The flavors came together nicely and took me back to my childhood where my neighbor always made us this amazing spaghetti dinner. I did not feel like anything was missing. It was a great choice and a great place to start on my journey to making my own unique pasta sauce. I will definitely be pulling from this recipe again to keep trying and tweaking till I find that little extra thing I want and crave for myself.
